Have you discovered where you would like to serve at Westminster Presbyterian Church? Wednesday evenings throughout the school year are a time to gather with fellow members of the congregation, and serve the Lord with our gifts. Discovery night usually finds Westminster bursting at the seams as people of all ages from within our community come to serve with a joyful heart.

Chayyim (Hebrew for LIFE; it’s pronounced Hi em)

Our college and career age group is designed for students, people in their twenties including young married couples with no children who. The group meets on a monthly basis and enjoys a time of fellowship and take part in rewarding and meaningful activities. Past and future activities include service projects, game nights, and group outings.

Prayer is the foundation of life at Westminster. God created all of us to live in a loving relationship with Him. Speaking and hearing, communicating and loving, are at the very heart of God. At Westminster, we encourage everyone to pray corporately in worship and activities, as well as individually throughout daily life. To support this conviction we offer special prayer opportunities:

Since the beginning of Christian history, Christ’s followers have been called to help one another. At Westminster, we take that call seriously as we reach within the congregation to provide love and support to those experiencing grief, illness or challenges. Talking about Christianity is important but living out our faith speaks much louder than words. We seek to care for each other through the following ministries:

Westminster has made a strong commitment to the adolescents of our community throughout our history. Scott Cose, our fill-time youth minister, has over 35 years of youth experience. Scott has a passion for getting to know each of our youth on an individual level, and partnering with parents as we guide our youth through their faith journey. Scott attends at least two activities each year for every middle or senior high student, including musical concerts, sporting events, awards assemblies, plays, just to name a few.

Christian discipleship is critical in living the life of faith. When God calls each of us into a loving relationship with Him through Jesus Christ, we begin a life-long process transformation. With the help of the Holy Spirit, our walk grows clearer and stronger each time we study His Word.

For Presbyterians, reaching out to provide a loving connection, volunteer time and/or financial support is a natural part of the spiritual process. In the book of Genesis, God blessed Abraham and his descendents so that they would be a blessing to others. Service to others is often called “enacted prayer,” meaning that our prayers to God on behalf of others also motivate us to do what we can for them. God fills us; we then share with others out of the abundance of our love, gifts and gratitude.
