April is here! We had a meaningful Holy Week and an amazing celebration of Easter last Sunday. Weeks of planning, preparation and practicing brought much glory to our wonderful Lord. Special thanks to all of our staff and volunteers who created such a vibrant experience for all of us. Thanks to all of you as well who attended and joined in the spirit of community!
A friend of mine who is also a clergy person had the message #easterisaseason on his twitter account. Reminding all of us that Easter isn't just one day, it is indeed a season. A season of 50 days which leads us to Pentecost, the birthday of the church. The liturgical church year brings us abundant opportunities to continue to grow in our faith.
I pray you will press on in your own journey of discipleship and especially pray for our leadership retreat which will occur on Saturday, April 14th. Our Elders, Deacons, program Staff and members of our Seeking New Paths committee will gather under the leadership of Dr. Bill Wilson, Director of the Center for Healthy Churches. We'll focus on our own personal transformation as leaders and how we discern the will of God for the next season of ministry at Westminster.
Life always brings change and our staff will be changing with not only the retirement of our youth director Scott Cose at the end of August, but also our church secretary, Sally Boger has announced her retirement at the end of May. Sally has served on our staff since November of 2003 and has brought her whole gracious heart to her work at Westminster. Our personnel committee is already working towards a plan for our staff and our youth director search committee will soon be accepting resumes for the youth director.
So, you can see we need to recognize each day the Bible verse from Acts listed above, we need the truth that Jesus is not far from each of us, for in him we live and move and have our being. Trust in that great news, be faithful in giving and attending worship.
Lastly, our New Welcome Center will soon be complete. We'll dedicate our new space on Pentecost, May 20th. Praise God from whom all Blessings flow!!
With Hope, Pastor Tricia
