Fresh Air! Fresh Air is one of the best gifts of the land of the living! My prayer for Westminster for these upcoming "outside" months is we truly can focus on the Holy Spirit in our Lives. Starting on Pentecost Sunday, May 24 we'll begin a sermon series entitled Fresh Air: The Holy Spirit for an Inspired Life. Our series is based on the book by Professor Jack Levison. Levison writes, "The Holy Spirit is not just about speaking in tongues, spiritual gifts, or "fruits"-but also about our deepest breath and our highest human aspirations." I had read Levison's book earlier this year and then on a recent Sunday a member asked me, "Could you preach about the Holy Spirit, we want to learn more?" A preacher's dream! A hungry heart for becoming more aware and knowledgeable about the Holy Spirit!
So please get on board for our summer series on the Holy Spirit! To deepen your own journey I invite you to participate in 40 days with the Holy Spirit which will begin on June 1. This is a book study (this book is also authored by Levison) you could experience alone or gather some fellow pilgrims and participate in the study together. Books will be available beginning Pentecost Sunday, May 24 for $10.00, call the office to reserve your copy! The Christian Education committee will also offer a class beginning June 7 to discuss the sermon series as well.
As we go to print on this last day of April I am so grateful for the spirit of anticipation for our upcoming renewal weekend! 110 years of vital ministry in the Cedar Valley is a gift to be celebrated. I pray you will participate in viewing the beautiful art work, celebrating our confirmands and rejoicing in song as we come together on Sunday evening for an incredible concert presented by Selah and Point of Grace.
Fresh Air! The Holy Spirit is alive and available to you!
With a grateful heart,
