Following college, Dan explored his call to ministry by serving on staff at Trinity Presbyterian Church in Anchorage, Alaska. He directed the youth and young adults and also used his musical gifts in that role. Dan is a gifted singer and plays the guitar. The head of staff at Trinity encouraged Dan to pursue his Masters of Divinity which brought he and Blair to Pittsburgh where she earned her Master's degree in speech pathology and Dan attended earned his degree at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary. For the past five years Dan has served as solo pastor at United Trinity Church in Hamburg, Iowa where Dan has had the opportunity to lead both within the walls of the church and be very active in community ministry as well.
Our Associate Pastor Nominating Committee has done an incredible job of leading our congregation to Dan. He has the gifts and heart which will serve our community of faith well and also he possesses a strong desire to be an active member of our wider ministries here in the Cedar Valley. It has been a true joy to get to know Dan better in these last weeks and I know you will connect with his warm personality and be delighted by Blair's friendly spirit and their adorable children, Natalie and Soren.
I pray you will attend Worship on Sunday, August 21st as we'll have ONE service at 10 am in the Sanctuary to hear Dan's candidating sermon. Immediately following the service we'll have a congregational meeting to vote on accepting Dan as our new Associate Pastor. Following the meeting we'll have a reception in the Shared Life Center so you can welcome Dan and his family.
Special thanks to Eric Johnson (chair), elders Jennifer Lamb and Mickey Waschkat, and members at large of our search committee: Joan Craig, Steven Eilers, Carrie Heinzerling and Mike Sinram. Above all, I thank our God whose faithfulness brings us abundant hope!
