you've truly become my salvation!
The stone the masons discarded as flawed
is now the capstone!
This is God's work.
We rub our eyes-we can hardly believe it!
This is the very day God acted-
let's celebrate and be festive!
Salvation now, God. Salvation now!
Oh yes, God-a free and full life!
As a teenager my Mom would sing to announce the dawn of a new day, "This is the day, this is the day that the Lord has made, we will rejoice, we will rejoice, and be glad in it and be glad in it.". Typically, I didn't agree that we should be glad in the new day, I wanted to sleep. Now I find myself singing to my teenagers early in the morning and they don't appreciate the song either. In this season of stewardship we too can be like our teenager friends. God is singing to us, offering us life, life abundant and instead of rubbing our eyes in disbelief of God's bounty to us, we think in our minds about what we don't have rather than what we do possess in the living spirit of God.
Our theme for Stewardship 2017 is JOY LIKE A FOUNTAIN as our stewardship team feels strongly that we all have much to celebrate with great JOY. I challenge you to make a list of the JOYS in your life and then consider how your JOY can make the difference in the lives of others. I would also invite you to consider the JOY of GIVING, your financial gifts do so much. Here are just a few...
*Keep the lights on at 1301 Kimball Ave
*Scholarship summer experiences for our youth
*Feed the hungry
*Provide education for students in the Democratic Republic of Congo
*Employ 8 full time employees who seek every day to serve God with great integrity
*Gift Bibles to our 3 year olds, 1st graders and 6th graders
This list could go on and on so please know your gift makes an incredible difference for God here in the Cedar Valley and beyond.
Please be on the lookout for your packet which will include your pledge card for 2017 during the week of October 23. We'll come together and celebrate the JOY of the LORD on Sunday, November 13 with an all church celebration brunch.
May your JOY be abound (even when your Mom sings to you at 6 am)
