..... while we wait for the blessed hope and the manifestation of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ
The 12th month of the year has arrived, how will this Advent season be meaningful for you? I pray you will begin your Advent season by picking up a copy of an advent calendar in our welcome center. It is entitled REDISCOVER ADVENT and is written by Pastor Rachel Strubas and has beautiful illustrations by Roy DeLeon. Rev. Strubas writes, "Advent is ours. Neither you alone, nor I in isolation, wait. We wait. For blessed hope, for revealed glory, for God, who looked at humankind and said we should not be alone, but together." These calendars offer you a disciplined way to spend a few minutes each day preparing your heart.
I hope you will read those words WE WAIT and rejoice that we have a community of faith that loves to be together as we await the celebration of our Savior's birth. As you read the articles in this newsletter you'll discover all sorts of meaningful times planned for our congregation and community. On December 25th we'll gather for the 35th Free Christmas Dinner that we've hosted over the years. If you've never been a part of this special event, this could be the year for you! You'll learn of many ways you can help in the days ahead.
As we look to 2016, I invite you to be a part of a special gift that we can give each other. As part of our Vision plan we'll be offering a Bible reading plan for the Gospel of Mark which will be a meaningful way for you to deepen your knowledge of this gospel and expand your love for God. As we anticipate this new program I encourage you to participate first in the program entitled, SHARE A VERSE. This program comes from our Christian Education team and we want you to share your favorite Bible verse so we then can share it with the congregation. Our hope is to have 52 verses, one for each week of the Year! A form to fill out will be available in the weekly bulletins or you can email me your verse as well.
I am deeply blessed by the PNC's unanimous nomination to be the next Head of Staff/Senior Pastor of Westminster and the congregations' affirmation of their decision on November 15th truly causes my heart to rejoice. The responsibility of this call is not lost on me and I so appreciate your faithful prayers as we serve God together in the years ahead.
Remember, not alone, but together WE await our Savior!
Blessings to you all,
