On March 26 the Elders of Westminster voted on a new vision statement for our congregation which you see listed above. The 4 B words are vital to the plan for the future and the vision team felt it was only fitting to focus on Christ as our Cornerstone as those words are foundational to all that the church can be. Thus, this new statement incorporates the past 110 years and our ever abounding future. We believe this is a meaningful statement and is easy to remember! So what's next for this plan?
1. 1. the process of putting a decision or plan into effect; execution.
The Elders also approved our implementation team who will be leading the path as we go forward. The team will be chaired by Elder Lori Johnson and include Elders Gary Iversen, Kerri Powell and Jackie Malecek, members at large will include Clair Hein, Troyce Vich and Geof Grimes. The team's first meeting is on Tuesday, April 7 and I ask that you pray specifically for these individuals and the implementation process. Execution isn't a word we use often in the church (thankfully), however, we are now in a place in our process when we must execute the prayerful plan for our future. Below are the responsibilities of the implementation team.
o Establishing the task forces to study/implement the four specific items referred to in the Vision Report (study Contemporary Worship service, study feasibility of Music & Arts Academy, study remaining Complete the Dream goals, and implement the Spiritual Gifts Inventory.)
o Monitoring and coordinating the implementation of the Vision Report through coordination with Session Committees and other groups with primary responsibility for individual activities.
o Regularly report progress to Session, on at least a quarterly basis, and request Session action and approval where necessary to implement specific activities.
o That the Implementation Team shall complete its work by December 31, 2016, unless extended by the Session.
o That the Vision Committee's sole additional responsibility shall be to complete its Final Report.
The days continue to be abundant at Westminster and I am forever grateful for your encouraging words as we live our journey together at Westminster. Your prayers, kind cards and thoughtful words bless my heart each day. We've had a meaningful Lenten season together and I look forward to our Holy Week services and proclaiming with you Christ is Risen, Christ is Risen Indeed.
May our prayers be daily as we proclaim Christ as our Cornerstone as we Believe, we Belong, we Become, we Build!
