About Westminster
Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1301 Kimball Ave, Waterloo, IA, is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (USA). We have 925 members and many friends who are part of our community of faith. Westminster is known for:
- Quality worship (we have a traditional service at 9 on Sundays and a contemporary service at 11:15) and strong music programming involving children, youth, and adults.
- We also emphasize Christian education, with our Wednesday Discovery Night and Sunday morning (10:10 a.m.) offerings for all ages. We have many groups for adults of all ages.
- Our strong Youth and Children’s programming:
- Children from throughout the Cedar Valley attend our annual summer Vacation Bible School each summer. Grandchildren of our members even travel from other states to attend.
- Our Youth Programming to middle and high school students is excellent and our monthly Jr. High dances draw students from a wide area.
- We have excellent age-graded classes for children/youth on Sundays and Wednesdays, including a three-year confirmation program.
- Trained child care providers in welcoming and well-stocked area are available on Sundays, Wednesdays and for many of our activities.
- A strong mission emphasis:
- We hosted our 31st annual Christmas Day dinner, the largest in our history.
- Westminster coordinates the “Feed My Starving Children” effort for the greater Cedar Valley. In October, 753 volunteers packed 720 boxes of food in three days in our Shared Life Center. That’s 155,520 meals, which feeds 426 children in 3rd world countries for a year.
- We give financial and spiritual support to 25 other non-profits who operate locally or at the global level.
- We have a special relationship with the Protestant University of the Congo.
We invite you to worship with us or attend any of our offerings. A great deal is happening in the life of our congregation; please check us out!
