Opportunities For Giving

Giving is the only appropriate response of gratitude for all God has first given to us. All of us have been endowed by God with spiritual gifts to be used within the Church, the body of Christ, and in the world. All of us have also been given an equal amount of time in a day, week, month and year. How we use that time is the clearest demonstration of what our priorities are.

At Westminster, everyone is asked to give as they can, be it time, talent or treasure. This web site attempts to showcase the many opportunities people have to be part of our worship, music, education and mission. EVERYONE is encouraged to participate in the life of the church. If you read this website and are still uncertain which ministries and opportunities would help you find a sense of meaning and purpose, please contact one of the pastors, who will work with you.

Finances aren’t fun to talk about, but no church can exist without money for staff, its building, and its activities. The 2012 budget at Westminster is $765,322, with $645,000 in pledges. It’s our prayer that the remaining $100,000 of the budget will come through non-pledged receipts, loose offering, per capita pledges, interest income and Christmas/Easter offerings.

Another important source of revenue for Westminster is our SCRIP Card program. Members can purchase gifts cards from over a hundred different merchants, including WalMart, Sam’s Club, Fareway, local and national restaurants, and a variety of other vendors. Each time a SCRIP card is purchased, a percentage of the purchase price is Westminster’s to keep. For most restaurant cards, the percentage is as high as 9%. Thanks to the SCRIP card program, thousands of dollars have been brought to help cover the funding of Westminster’s ministries it began operating in November, 2010. We continue to encourage other church members/friends to utilize this opportunity for routine purchases as well as gift cards.
